Sitting in front of my Computer I used to wonder as to how would I create one of those cool things that would fetch me appreciation and content? and how useful it would be to me or others?
I often created illustrations using some of the designing software that had got decent reviews from my peers. I created some animation clips that looks quiet amusing. I did some Audio-Visual work using video editing software. But I was in search of a something that Pays Off!
A few months back I got employed in one of the prestigious educational institutes in India, as a Design technology instructor. My Job profile included introducing the new design technologies and software to the students and training them to work on creatives using the same. I believed this to be my path to attain the Creative fulfillment which I was looking for. I thought I would work with tools and software that I was so familiar with. I would work on what I am best at. I started believing that 'this is it!'.
But somewhere I had this feeling of not being able to do what I was willing to do. There was something that was not fine. And that I suppose was my 'not experienced / fresher' tag. I did not have prior industrial or academic experience and my creative skills. However, this was not a big issue. The thing was I was not working on everything else but creatives! This developed a negative attitude towards the environment I was working in which stopped me from being myself.
Finally, I decided to change my attitude that could bring some positive changes. I started out again. I planned out my schedule in a way which accommodated both my Non-creative work stuff as well as my own creative work. And this time it was amazing how things turned out to be !
Due to the positive energy, my creative spirits were in full form and I made full use of it. I started pushing my limits and worked hard in creating illustrations which were meaningful. The outcome was my Social message banner! A banner that was designed to show the Importance of Education to the society.
This Social Message Banner was a meaningful creation which could be of some utility to the Society in general. And the contentment I experienced, when I saw my work, was worth all the hard work and efforts I put on it.
As far as the institution was concerned they liked my efforts and now I believe they will be able to treat me not just a 'Fresher' but as a thorough professional too.
Now, I am trying to participate in an online contest with the same banner that I had created. I am not too sure whether it ends being the winning illustration but I have confidence that it would reach to few more People out there on the net!
My level of confidence in my creative ability has risen much above than what it used to be before. Creativity definitely Pays off, provided you believe in yourself!
Thus, I say - Creativity Pays off!
